FAQs

How do I book an appointment?

All of the artists and body piercers prefer to discuss booking over email. You can reach them here: chelsey@shatterprooftattoo.com, azure@shatterprooftattoo.com, lance@shatterprooftattoo.com, and amburr@shatterprooftattoo.com.

All artists do ask for a $50 deposit per appointment made that is NON-REFUNDABLE and the money comes off of the total price of the tattoo. The deposit ensures us that you are serious about the appointment and will hold your spot in their schedule.

If you need to cancel or reschedule make sure to let us know at least 48 hours before the appointment and the deposit will float to a day that works better for you. If there is a no call no show, a cancel after the 48-hour window, or repeatedly cancel as a result you will lose that deposit and/or will need to pay in full before you can reschedule any further appointments.

When should I expect a response back?

All artists and piercers may take up to 2 weeks to respond to an email. If it is an emergency please do not hesitate to come into the shop!

When can I see my design?

Drawings will not be shown until the day of your appointment. If any changes need to be made we are happy to do that before we start your tattoo!

Do you tattoo minors?

No. You must be 18 or older and have a non-expired state issued ID.

Do you pierce minors?

Yes! We ask that you bring the minors birth certificate and your (the parent/legal guardian) state issued ID. We must have these things, and you, the legal parent or guardian present during the appointment.

We will pierce ear lobes starting at five years old as long as the child can voice consent. Nostril and navel piercings begin at 14 years old. Any other type will require an in person consultation with our piercer.

Any piercings that require disrobing or surface piercings are 18 and up!

Can I bring a family member or friend to my appointment?

Absolutely! As long as they are 18 or older.

What do I wear to my appointment?

We recommend you wear dark, loose-fitting clothing that allows access to the area being tattooed. For example, zip-up/button-up for sternum or back tattoos, bathing suit for hip tattoos, sandals for foot tattoos, etc.

Should I eat before my tattoo or piercing appointment?

Yes! Please eat a big meal and drink plenty of water at least three hours prior to your appointment. Not doing so could result in fainting. We do carry snacks and water just incase you need anything during your appointment. We ask that you do not drink alcohol prior to the appointment or take any type of blood thinners.

What are important things to let your artist or piercer know before my appointment?

Please let us know if you are on any medications or experiencing the following: Accutane, blood thinners, antibiotics, pregnancy, breastfeeding, sunburn, poison ivy/oak/sumac, ring worm, flare ups of eczema/psoriasis, open wounds, bug bites. If there are any further questions regarding the following, please call and ask us directly!

Can I use my own numbing cream?

No, we ask that you please do not arrive with any sort of numbing cream on your soon to be tattooed skin. Using numbing creams can cause serious chemical reactions. They can change the skin's texture, making it difficult to tattoo. The cream can make the skin feel spongy, mushy, or cause it to form bumps. This can make it harder to execute a perfect design, affect the tattoo's healing, and quality. Feel free to discuss any questions you may have with your artist.

Can I shave before my appointment?

Please make sure that you are not shaving or waxing the day of your appointment. The artist will prep and shave the area themselves.

How many piercings can I get in one day?

Typically a maximum of four; however, it is dependent on the piercings and will vary on a case to case basis.
